Affordable Housing Bond Financing (493 Eastmoor Apartments)
HIP Housing presented programs that house about 1,200 people a year, including subsidized rent for one to five years with case management and job support. The commission noted that Daly City workers commuting from Stockton and Sacramento would benefit from living closer to their jobs.
Tenant Anti-Harassment Ordinance
Renters organized with Faith in Action have been coming to council since November demanding an anti-harassment law to protect tenants from mold, ignored repairs, eviction threats and rent intimidation. Staff says stakeholder meetings with tenant and landlord groups will happen in early June, with a possible council study session to follow.
Vista Grande Drainage Basin Improvement Project
The council awarded a $179.85 million contract to replace a 100-year-old stormwater tunnel under Fort Funston, with a 30-month build wrapping up around December 2029. The project should improve Lake Merced water quality and brings regional water, wastewater and recreation benefits.
Unpermitted Fence Blocking Thornton Beach Access
A fence went up on Olympic Way without permits, cutting off historic public and equestrian access to Thornton Beach and coastal trails. The city issued a notice of violation, is coordinating with the Coastal Commission, and plans a multi-agency site inspection — while police investigate threatening signs posted at the site.
